Lake Natron is a salt and soda lake in the Arusha Region of northern Tanzania . The lake is close to the Kenyan border and is in the Gregory Rift, which is the eastern branch of the East African. Its unique red color is as a result of the high concentration of salt. It has also been been said that due to this high concentration, the lake can fossilize animals and turn them into statues.
